Dr. Janelle is a true leader and pillar of the community

Dr. Janelle OD is an expert optometrist with 16 years of experience in eye health and prevention a self-proclaimed, well-respected, and highly reviewed doctorprenuer with several successful founding business ventures.

She is the founder and CEO of Brilliant Eyes Vision Center. BEVC was founded in 2010 "cold"! While on maternity leave with her first-born child Dr. Janelle worked tirelessly on her business plan. After securing funding she embarked on her dream of private practice. Her former 2800 sq. ft practice was in West-Cobb Marietta 10 minutes west of the Historic Marietta Square. In true boss fashion, Dr. Janelle successfully relocated her practice to Downtown Smyrna in the middle of the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic.  Dr. Janelle is a dreamer, planner, and natural leader. As a solo practicing OD, she has grown her practice from zero to over 12,000 patients in less than 10 years. According to a 2012 survey conducted by the American Optometric Association, Solo owner optometrists reported an average of 6,261 active patients. Dr. Janelle is well ahead of the curve.  Her excellent strategic planning and goal setting skills have garnered the attention of numerous national optometric publications. She was featured on the 2011 cover of Women in Optometry Magazine entitled "Ready, Set, Goal"! Only one year after opening her private practice. Since then, she has gone on to receive numerous features and awards. Including receiving 2018 40 under 40 award from her beloved undergraduate institution Xavier University of Louisiana. 

She deems herself a survivor! In 2020 her premier private practice, Brilliant Eyes Vision Center turned 10 years old. Most small businesses shut down within the first 3-5 years of business. Dr. Janelle understands the creativity, business knowledge, support system and organizational skills that are required to keep the doors open. She is now reaching back and pulling her fellow colleagues forward. As a private practice advocate & consultant, she is helping other doctors survive private practice! When she is not teaching survival skills to private practice owners her other passion and purpose in life is to be a champion for young minority women as a mentor and stem advocate. She is the co-founder of a 501c3 STEM non-profit S.C.O.R.E, Inc. Her organization allows her to use her story as an example of how unwavering faith, perseverance, and determination can make any life goal attainable and achievable. She provides young women with the tools, skills, and confidence needed to empower, encourage, and expose them to STEM-Related careers. Her goal is to decrease the disparity gap among young minority women pursuing STEM degrees and careers. 

Dr. Janelle has recently stepped into the tech arena, in 2019, she cofounded a cloud-based optometry technology software that allows optical retailers to bundle all frame and lens options. The award-winning  Optical Software Solution-Paradeyem is first and only to allow “bundled” frame + lens options for both private pay and vision care plans. Also, the software pulls in patient copays and seamlessly calculates all patient out of pocket charges reducing the patient optician transaction time by 50%.  Dr. Janelle is married to her wonderful husband and business partner, Jimmie for 16 years and she is the mother of two awesome children Kennedy (10) and Lyndon (13).
